Bye Bye Baby... tooth!

Guess what happened at our house tonight?!

just look at that teeny tiny tooth at the bottom right, in the star... how did she even eat with that thing?!

I always have so much fun with Urban Thread's embroidery designs, and this little tooth pillow has got to be one of my favorites!

So there you have it, my first born is officially growing up... her baby pieces are just falling off of her after all.

PS - I have no idea what the going rate for the first lost tooth is! I assumed the quarter of the generations past was subject to inflation???

Awwe! How cute! I know what is the going rate these days? We give an assortment of loose change and have the kids count it out in the morning. They love it and I love it because I am sneaking in a lesson somewhere in there.

I have no idea the going rate, and actually clicked on here from my reader to look at the comments to find out, as we will be there in a few years with our oldest. The other thing I wonder is, what does one DO with the teeth? My parents saved all of ours in the envelopes we put them in, in the hallway bookcase (I know, SO GROSS). I know I don't want to do that. I want to be a "normal" family. So what should I plan to do??

They grow up so fast! We always gave our kids a dollar a tooth.

Adorable pillow. The tooth fairy pays better than she did when my kids were little. ha!

Wow! The tooth fairy is pretty cheap around here... but my 6-year-old has lost 8 teeth in the last year, so I'd be broke if I were that generous! I think we did 50 cents for the first few, and $1 for the last few.

Cute!!! Your kids get $5, I got a quarter when I lost my teeth! :)

A Girl, I like that idea! And they even have dollar coins now that have been popping up in the change the post office gives me.

Melanna, yeah the whole "what to do with the tooth" thing is sort of strange. Keeping it seems a little weird, but throwing it out seems just wrong. I'm thinking I'll make some kind of little trinket box to keep them all in. Maybe something I could include a little record of when she lost each tooth?

As for how much to give, $5 or $1 per tooth seems to be the going rate. We did $5 for the very first tooth ever, but $1 will probably be the max for the future losses. Maybe I'll write a sweet note or add something to make it a little special next time.

So cute.
Our toothfairy pays $1 per year. My 6 1/2 yr old daughter just lost her first tooth so she got $6.50. My 9 yr old son just lost his 5th tooth and he got $9.
Some of my sons friends get $20 per tooth and some only get a few dollars, there seems to be no set rate that people follow.

A few more years and those little baby pieces will wear off to reveal an energetic princess! Hold on tight to that cute pillow while it's still there. They tend to grow very fast.
