I always sing the praises of Etsy, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that I've joined an Etsy Street Team. It's basically a group of crafters, in this case locally, who meet online and in person to promote each others shops and in general just offer support. For Valentine's Day, members of FEST made a bunch of handmade Valentines, shipped them to me, and I delivered them to the assisted living facility that my Grandmother resides in, Carrington Place. It was fun to see the look of surprise on the front desk managers face when I told him we were looking for a way to do something sweet on Valentine's Day, and his residents came to mind. Karie's Komments: Lassie Girl~Unique...Distinct...Modern
Have you ever looked through your daughter's closet and thought "I wish I could find something super cute and unique". Well, if you have, boy do I have a treat for you! One day last autumn I was bored at work and glancing through Etsy (something I'm guilty of doing quite frequently). Anyway, I stumbled upon Lassie Girl Pinnies. These were EXACTLY what I was looking for..... I'm always so impressed with the designer fabrics Ashley chooses! She has a wonderful sense of style as well as a great eye for color. The picture is my daughter modeling her new Lassie Girl pinnie. I'd like to tell you a little bit about Ashley, the master mind behind Lassiegirl. She *really* started sewing when she was 18 years old. She had played around with it a bit starting at age 14, but had absolutely NO interest in getting serious about it until later. Ashley has a baby sister that is 15 years younger than her and mainly sewed for her - She "HATES" sewing for herself! Now, 10 years later and Ahley's sister is not so interested in having cute little outfits made for her, but Ashely says she was "HOOKED" to this new addiction, so she had to find someone to sew for!Ashely started selling on Etsy in April 2007. It started small and slow, but in August things were really picking up and she was lucky enough to be able to quit her "real" job in order to focus on lassie girl full-time. She actually found the website 7 months earlier in September '06 and the more she started looking around on there, the more enthralled with it she became. Ashely says she felt it was fresher than Ebay and seemed to attract the kind of clientele she wanted. Ashley loved the idea of having her own store without the expense of setting up a website. Etsy also provides the opportunity to have thousands of people view her shop on a daily basis, which is something she couldn't have done on my own short of expensive advertising. She loves the whole Etsy community and experience and hopes to continue selling on there for many years to come! Ashley says her inspiration comes mainly from her love of fabrics and color. She has always had an extreme children's clothing fetish and finds herself wandering around stores and perusing boutiques, catalogs, websites and magazines for ideas. Ashley is always on the hunt for new, fresh inspiration and tries to keep up with the latest trends. Quality is extremely important to her. I have purchased two pinnies from Ashley, as well as a doll pinnie (See pic-How stinkin' cute is that doll pinnie???), hair clippies, and a quilt. I can honestly say I am completly satisfied with all of my Lassie Girl items! Ashley always wraps her items in an adorable fashion, perfect for gift giving! Please do yourself a favor and take a peek at Ashley's http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=82327 ! You'll be glad you did....and that's a promise ;)
