Thank You from All Children's Hospital

On Valentine's Day, I posted here about the team I'm a part of, Florida Etsy Street Team (FEST), and the handmade Valentine's cards we gave to the children who spent Valentine's Day at All Children's Hospital. I just got this letter in the mail from them and thought I'd share:

Dear Ms. Whittington & the members of the Florida Etsy Street Team,

On behalf of All Children's Hospital Foundation, thank you for the Valentines.

Your thoughtfulness towards the children we care for is especially meaningful and greatly appreciated. Every gift counts when it comes to the care and well being of a hospitalized child. The generosity and kindness of friends like you helps to bring smiles to our young patients... easing the anxiety they face with being away from home. The families of our young patients are also grateful for the wonderful outpouring of love and unselfishness that our community shares with All Children's Hospital.

Thanks again for your generosity and for thinking of All Children's Hospital.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Hall

Donate Life

I've been working on a really special project for a good friend of mine that I'd like to tell you about. My friend Kelli Walker's boyfriend, Todd, has been on a waiting list for a liver transplant for 3 and 1/2 years. Did you know that as of July 2008 there were 99,421 people in the United Network for Organ Sharing waiting list?

Todd and Kelli do a lot in their community and with the Transplant Foundation to help others like Todd who are waiting for transplants or are transplant patients. They often do charity walks to support their cause and raise awareness about the importance of organ donation. Their lab, Shadow, always joins them on their walks too. I made "Donate Life" bandanas for Shadow and a friend's pooch to wear on one of the last walks they did and they got lots of attention. So for their next walk, the 5K Triangle Transplant Walk & Rock on Sept. 28th, I'm making 30 Donate Life dog bandanas. Kelli and Todd are going to sell them during the walk and the proceeds will benefit the NC Transplant Foundation.

It's been a fun project and I'm especially happy to be able to do something to help contribute to such a worthy cause that's had a great impact on my friend's life. Guess what?! You can contribute too! Check out the North Carolina's Transplant Foundation website and click on the "sponsor a walker" link. It brings you to the PayPal page where you can make a donation of any amount you'd like (every single penny helps!). Please be sure to put "Kelli Walker/Elle Belle" in the comments so that they know who you're supporting and where you came from. Thank you!
